Event Description: MTCC Spring Break Mini Camp March 21-24, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., ages 9-16 (Students can attend all days, or pick and choose. Registration is limited. Contact education@mosaictemplarscenter.com or 501-683-3592) Tuesday, March 21: Major To Minor -- This hands-on program focuses on two of Arkansas’s most famous musicians: William Grant Still and Scott Joplin. Through their stories, participants will identify instruments and sounds by examining the symphony orchestra, as well explore the innovation and cultural significance of the music of ragtime. Students will see, hear, and touch a variety of instruments and will work together to play (and conduct!) music. ($5 activity fee to attend) Wednesday, March 22: What’s the Buzz -- "What's the Buzz?" teaches about the scientific contributions of entomologist, Dr. E. J. Harris. Through his study of the biosteres arisanus strain of wasps, he was able to help farmers all over the world. At the end of the program, students get to make their own egg carton "insects." ($5 activity fee to attend) Thursday, March 23: Speaking Up, Speaking Out -- Buttons have been used for decades to express political opinions and were especially popular during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. In this program, students will use their artistic ability to design and create their own wearable buttons to speak up and speak out. ($5 activity fee to Friday, March 24: Tommy Terrific – Tommy Terrific will perform his Tuskegee Airman wacky magic show! FREE!
