In celebration of International Women's Day, we're highlighting some of our wonderful women in leadership as they share some pearls of wisdom from their career! Meet Leah Lannie - Retail District Manager 🛍️ Why did you choose your profession? I chose retail after watching my father lead retail businesses during my childhood. He gave me my first job at 15, and I learned I had a passion for supporting people whether through guest service or through development. In my college years, I spent time as a server in several other concepts, but always maintained a role in retail leadership. Fast-forward to 2010, I started my career at Cracker Barrel as a bench manager and fell in love with the traffic that allowed me to drive sales in retail. I later became a TSM and worked in 4 locations in the Central Virginia area, and that eventually led me to being a District Manager in the upstate of South Carolina in 2019. Working my first year as a DM truly humbled me in that I learned how to navigate quickly through the gray even when things were uncertain... What an experience that was! I'm so proud of how everyone evolved and grew together during that time. Showing we can always make it happen if we work together! What do you love about what you do? What I love most about my career is the talent around me that helps me continue to learn and grow. Also, there is nothing like showing hospitality to our guests at Cracker Barrel. Sometimes the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact on others, and it is amazing to see. For example, I once recovered guests who were missed during a busy shift. The mother was upset and when I asked her why she said it was her son’s 6th birthday and all he asked for was to have pancakes at Cracker Barrel. I got them to come back inside, and I bought the boy and his sister a gift from the retail store to make it extra special. It was one of the most heartwarming moments, and I won’t ever forget it. Those are things that keep me with this brand, so I can make memories! What is the best career advice you’ve ever received? The best advice I have ever gotten was to surround myself with people who are smarter than me so that I can constantly learn and continue to teach others. Information and wisdom are only as good as those you share it with! #IWD2024 #ThisIsCrackerBarrel #EatShopWork

In celebration of International Women's Day, we're highlighting some of our wonderful women in leadership as they share some pearls of wisdom from their career! Meet Jessica Manning - Senior Director of Human Resources 🧑🤝🧑 Why did you choose your profession? I was a practicing attorney for over 10 years before I moved into Human Resources. Even though I love the legal profession, I always knew I would not practice law forever. I had a sense it would be steppingstone for something else; I just didn’t know what. A former boss and fellow attorney (our CHRO Donna Roberts) made the move from legal for HR some years prior. About 3 years ago, she approached me about a position in her department. I was intrigued by the prospect of using my analytical skills in a new and different way, so I took the plunge and made the move to HR. It turns out I found my true passion, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity! What do you wish you could tell your younger self? Life is so much fuller and richer than you could ever imagine, even when it doesn’t work out like you planned. Be open to what comes and try to leave things a little better than you found them. #IWD2024 #ThisIsCrackerBarrel #EatShopWork

In celebration of International Women's Day, we're highlighting some of our wonderful women in leadership as they share some pearls of wisdom from their career! Meet Tiffany Anaya - Recently promoted Retail District Manager and a recipient of the 2023 Cracker Barrel Winners Circle award 🛍️ Why did you choose your profession? Well, I was originally going to school to be a teacher. I started my part time job as a sales associate at Dillard’s. As I progressed in my journey, leadership came naturally to me. I started to progress at my job and started making great connections and relationships. This led to being a resource for people and that made me feel good and lead me to be confident in what I was doing. I worked for Cracker Barrel in 2011 to 2014 as a part-time hourly Merchandise Handler. I returned to CB later in my career because my good friend "Erica" still worked for the company and I knew this is where I wanted to come back to. In 2021 "Brandy" hired me to be the Retail Manager in Las Cruces, NM with the knowledge I wanted to be a District Manager. "Tara" took over my district and continued to develop and lift me up in the right direction. "Toni" saw my potential and, in partnership with Tara, gave me stretch assignments to help me develop. Eventually, "Michelle" had an opportunity that I was interested in - I took it on and succeeded to be promoted to a Retail DM in 2024, almost three years to the day of when I returned to this incredible company. This part is important… you see all the names on this list? It is woman lifting up other woman, so we are all successful. What do you wish you could tell your younger self? I wish I could tell my younger self to be choosy and make well-thought-out decisions. You will make it eventually, but you don’t have to struggle so much during the journey. What is the best career advice you’ve ever received? Knowledge is power. When that power is shared, it becomes an unstoppable force. #IWD2024 #ThisIsCrackerBarrel #EatShopWork

In celebration of International Women's Day, we're highlighting some of our wonderful women in leadership as they share some pearls of wisdom from their career! Meet Amy Barnett - Vice President, Loyalty & CRM 💻 Why did you choose your profession? I grew up in a family with a long legacy of teaching across elementary, collegiate and post-graduate levels. The one piece of unilateral advice was “don’t become a teacher.” As a young woman, I was torn. Everyone I deeply admired and respected were advising me to rethink a path different from theirs. That advice guided me away from choosing a Liberal Arts college. Truly, without knowing much about it, I applied and later graduated from an engineering university. I remember the ratio of men:women was like 20:1. Gratefully, #WomenInSTEM is much higher now! In college, I became intrigued by computers and coding. Some point mid-way through, as a break from core classes, I took two electives – a marketing class with a project for Amtrak and a public speaking class. At some point during that confluence of classes, I changed my major and pursued classes and a career in data/technology/marketing that spoke to me. I accepted my first job at a marketing firm where I applied coding to customer marketing data to create campaign audiences. From there I took every opportunity to learn all aspects of data-based marketing. I’ve never looked back. While some initial decisions were lucky, one affirmed choice was to specialize. What do you love most about what you do? I was lucky to choose a field that just exploded. But my curiosity and interest in seeing real-time results of campaigns has kept me passionate. Hearing and seeing how to make customers happy, change their perceptions and behavior, and then loyal and engaged – what a gift! I have worked with some of the most brilliant creative and technical professionals who are constant learners like me. What do you wish you could tell your younger self? You can have it all, but maybe not all at the same time. And, plan for pivots. Change is healthy, so take the different road. #IWD2024 #ThisIsCrackerBarrel #EatShopWork
