Stone Ward, a full-service advertising agency with offices in Little Rock and Chicago, yesterday was named a finalist in two categories of the annual PRWeek Awards for its work on the “Love, Little Rock” campaign in coordination with the Little Rock Regional Chamber.

Starting with a full-page ad in the Washington Post, owned by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, on the RFP deadline, “Love, Little Rock” has since been featured or mentioned in over 1,000 pieces of print, online and broadcast news coverage totaling more than one billion potential impressions. Its tongue-in-cheek “breakup letter” to Amazon, beginning with the now-famous line “It’s not you, it’s us,” allowed the Chamber to celebrate the city’s resources and benefits with site selectors and C-suite executives alike. Since Amazon announced two HQ2 locations – Crystal City, Virginia, and Long Island City, New York – last month, the campaign has seen a resurgence of news mentions for its cleverness.

The PRWeek Awards are firmly established as the communications industry’s highest accolade. They celebrate the best of the best corporate, agency, nonprofit and education teams, and the work they produced. This year’s awards were judged by a set of 85 elite judges from various industries.
“Love, Little Rock” stands alone as the only B2B contender in the “Best Viral” category, honoring “work that takes on a life of its own – with a little help from our [earned media] friends.” Others in this category include Gerber, Hidden Valley, IHOP and Red Stripe. The campaign has also been awarded both by the Public Relations Society of America’s Bronze Anvil Awards in the “Word-of-Mouth” category, and by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives with a “Communications Excellence Grand Award.” Since its inception, the agency has worked with the Chamber to utilize the campaign’s notoriety to inform an enhanced branding strategy.
