The COVID-19 pandemic is more than just a health crisis — it has had a ripple effect, impacting all of us and our work. As the world responds to this new threat, many nonprofits are struggling with how to help their communities while also trying to survive themselves. In this Equip session, Justin Buck, principal consultant at Buck Consulting, will give you advice on keeping your team focused on community impact with solutions from recent federal COVID-19 response aid and other emergency funding strategies. Community impact organizations are crucial in times of crisis and recovery. You'll learn how to make the most of the CARES Act and Paycheck Protection Program, pursue emergency and disaster grant programs, and weather the storm so your nonprofit can keep doing what it does best: building better communities for Arkansans.

The panelists will discuss pressing issues for nonprofit leaders. Panelists include Sarah Kinser, chief program officer for Arkansas Community Foundation and a representative from the Arkansas District of the Small Business Administration.

About the panel:

Justin Buck is the principal consultant at Buck Consulting. Buck is a community connector and coalition builder who strives to make an impact by expanding nonprofits’ capacity to pursue their missions more efficiently and effectively. He has worked over a decade recruiting and developing volunteers; running impactful programming; powering nonprofit missions through fundraising and development; and leading teams of board members, community partners, volunteers and staff to envision and create better communities for everyone. Justin has raised millions of dollars through conventional fundraising and focused collaboration and built and run programs with a local, state and national impact.

Sarah Kinser is chief program officer for Arkansas Community Foundation. In this role she oversees the Foundation’s grantmaking, affiliate system, impact investing and community partnerships. She also serves on the steering committee of Arkansas Impact Philanthropy, an association of funders working toward an inclusive Arkansas where everyone thrives.
